MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGIES DEPARTMENT

The purpose of the Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies Department is based on motor vehicles, construction machinery, etc. To train professionals specialized on the technologies of equipment. Due to the increasing competitive approaches in these sectors, the need for professionals specialized in the sector and the regional location of our country, it is certain that this department will make a name for itself much more in the future.

With the advancement of new generation technologies, it is expected that the employees of the sector will dominate the technological developments. The technological knowledge and infrastructure needed by the construction machinery industry is conveyed to the students of the department in a detailed and practical way.

Both the academic staff of the department, its relations with the sector and its expert trainers ensure that graduates can graduate with all the academic and sectoral knowledge required by the department.

Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies Department provides training in a program. This program is “Heavy Equipment Operator” associate degree program.

Heavy Equipment Operator Program was established in 2014 and took its first student admission in 2017. The program, which continues education in formal education, has a quota of 25 people.

Graduates who complete the program and receive the title of Heavy Equipment Operator can become a technical staff member between the manager/engineer and the worker in the production, service and after-sales service sector, or an employee who has the qualifications to open and run a business on their own behalf.

Admission and Registration Conditions

Provided that they are high school graduates, they can apply to the Heavy Equipment Operator Program as a result of taking the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) conducted by the OSYM Presidency and getting sufficient TYT points.

Qualification Requirements and Rules

In order to obtain an associate degree in the Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies Department, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (a total of 120 ECTS), complete a 30-day internship, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Program Profile

Heavy Equipment Operator Program is an associate degree program opened to train qualified, knowledgeable and talented technicians in sectors such as construction, forestry, mining, oil and natural gas, where heavy equipment is used extensively.

Transition to Senior Programs

Individuals who graduate from Heavy Equipment Operator can be placed in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Agricultural Machinery undergraduate programs if they pass the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) and are successful.

Exams, Assessment and Evaluation

Exams are carried out according to the principles of Samsun University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations.

Graduation Requirements

All the courses available in the program (for 120 ECTS in total) must be successfully completed, a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 must be obtained, and the internship must be completed successfully.

There is one Heavy Equipment Workshop belonging to our department. Heavy Equipment, Maintenance-Repair, Measurement Technique, Welding Technology etc.
